How to best analyze MAP test results

By kmsheeha on January 27, 2012

Our middle school is new to MAP testing with our only testing in Fall 2011. We would like some ideas about analyzing the reports to get the best overall data possible. What I have done on my own is to create a spreadsheet template so that each teacher of math or reading can see a collation of data from various reports, mainly showing the subject-area class as a whole in the with the different goal RIT scores, as well as the general composite scores for each class group. In addition, each teacher was given a breakdown of how each student scored within each subject-area goal including the RIT range and percentile range compared to the Group Norm.

After each teacher reviewed her/his students' scores on these spreadsheets, the teachers compared their findings with members of the same curricular department. They looked for common goals that to be focused on more and those subject goals that  appear, at this point, to be met across the grades.

Other ideas to share?Thanks.
