For students at risk or receiving intervention, you will be able to use MAP Reading Fluency to monitor their oral reading progress as often as needed. The new progress monitoring test form (English only) will include a single passage and related comprehension questions that students should be able to complete in approximately 5 -10 minutes. This test format will be available for use starting July 22, 2019.
Teachers may select the Lexile® range for the progress monitoring passage as part of the test assignment or they can use a grade-level default. Test results will be automatically scored, and audio will be recorded and available for playback.
Once progress monitoring is assigned, the system will automatically re-assign a new progress monitoring passage to the student after each completed test, so new tests do not have to be assigned each time. The auto-assign feature can be turned off for a student at any time. Assigning a benchmark test will bring that benchmark to the top of the list for a student, then progress monitoring will resume after the benchmark is completed. Likewise, at the beginning of each term, the default benchmark test will go to the top of the list.
Progress monitoring results can be viewed by selecting the Progress Monitoring option from the Reports drop down. The raw data and audio recording files for an individual student can then be accessed by clicking on the student’s name.
Enhanced individual student progress monitoring reports will be available in the system as of August 26, 2019. These reports will plot the progress monitoring results on a line graph using a scaled Words Correct Per Minute (WCPM) score, as shown below. Tests can be assigned and taken by students from July 22 onward.
