Question
Can I manually change the status of a skill in MAP Skills?

Answer
Yes, you can change the status of a skill to Needs Work, Passed, or Mastered from the Heat Map. For instructions and more information, see Change Skill Status in the MAP Help Center.

When should I manually change the mastery status of a skill?

This feature allows you to accurately track student progress in a strand without completely relying on MAP Skills. As you work in the classroom, you gain additional insights about a student's mastery of a skill in mathematics, vocabulary, or language usage, and thus may want to change the designation of that skill.

How can I tell if a status of a skill was changed?

When you click a skill status on the Heat Map, a window appears allowing you to update the skill status and see more information about the skill. This window also shows when the skill status was last updated, and whether it was updated from a Skills Locator, a Mastery Check, or whether it was manually updated by a user. If it was manually updated by a user, the user's name will be listed.
