How many questions should a student see when testing?

Answer
Standard MAP (2-5 and 6+):
  • Survey with Goals Math test: 53 items
  • Survey with Goals Reading test: 43 items
  • Survey with Goals Language Usage test: 53 items
  • End-of-Course Math Tests: 53 items
  • All Survey tests: 20 items
  • Science Test Items: 45 items
  • Science Grades 3-5 (CO, OH, NC, NY and WA only): 45 items
  • Science Grades 6+ (CO, OH, NC, NY and WA only): 45 items

MAP for Primary Grades (MPG):
  • Primary Reading Survey with Goals: 35 items on both segments
  • Primary Math Survey with Goals: 35 items on both segments
  • Survey and Skills Checklists: Varies, see Guidelines for Testing Students for a full list and the number of items on each test.

Note: Each count is the maximum number of items offered. In some instances tests will offer fewer items than what is listed here.
