Introduction
Students are listed on the Students Without Valid Test Results under a particular test if at least one student in their grade has taken that test. For example, if one student in grade 6 takes the Math 2-5 test, then the report will assume that all 6th grade students at the school needs to take this test. It will therefore display any 6th grade student who hasn't taken the 2-5 test.

Information
This is the expected behavior of this report. If a student takes the "wrong" test for their grade, it is up to your organization's policies whether you should retest the student or not. See Student took wrong test for their grade for more information.

Workaround
To eliminate confusion, you can order the Students Without Valid Test Results report for each grade (or grade group, like 2-5 and 6+) individually, choosing only the tests that students are expected to take for that grade.

For example:
  1. Go to View Reports > Operational Reports and choose Students Without Valid Test Results.
  2. Select the grade (such as grade 6) or grade group (such as 2-5 or 6+) you are interested in.
  3. Select all subjects you are interested in.
  4. Under Test, click Clear, then select only the tests you would expect that grade or grade grouping to take.
    • For example, if you are a middle school and you have grades 6, 7, and 8, choose only the 6+ tests and leave the 2-5 tests unselected.
  5. Click Create PDF Report. The report should now only show students who have yet to take the correct test for their grade.
