Introduction
The difference between NWEA standard name and custom name.

Information
When your organization is set up in the MAP Suite, all schools included in our existing database will be created for your organization. These schools will be assigned an NWEA Standard name according to what is in our database. You may assign each school a custom name if the designation you use for a school is different than the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) name. For example, if your organization has a school called Thomas Jefferson High School, you might wish to change the custom name to Jefferson HS.

You can also set custom names for other attributes. If an attribute has a custom name, the custom name will appear on reports instead of the NWEA standard name.

Which attributes can have a custom name defined?

  • District name
  • School name
  • Grade name
  • Ethnic group
  • Program name

Custom name requirements:

  • Custom names must be unique throughout the district.
  • School names have a maximum of 65 characters.
  • Ethnic group and program names have a maximum of 35 characters.
  • Grades have a maximum of 2 characters.
