Symptom
When you launch the Lockdown Browser (also known as NWEA Secure Testing Browser), you get an error message saying the browser can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.

Explanation
In Mac OS X 10.8 and later, some apps downloaded from the internet cannot be opened without providing explicit permission.

Solution
To allow the app to open:
  1. Dismiss the error message.
  2. Control-click or right click on the NWEA Secure Testing Browser or NWEA Lockdown Browser app.
  3. Click Open.

Alternately, you can use System Preferences to allow the app to open:

  1. Dismiss the error message.
  2. Open System Preferences.
  3. Go to Security & Privacy.
  4. Select the General tab.
  5. Towards the bottom, you will see a message about the blocked app. Click Open Anyway.
