Introduction
This article addresses multiple questions around the application of norms to students taking MAP Growth K-2 and the 2-5 tests.

Information
Some common questions we receive about the norms and primary grades students are:
  • If a student takes MAP Growth K-2 in the fall and MAP Growth 2-5 in the spring, are the norms percentiles and growth projections still valid?
  • Are there separate norms for 2nd grade students who take MAP Growth K-2 vs 2nd grade students who take MAP Growth 2-5?
  • If a 1st grade student takes the 2-5 test, do the norms still apply?

The answer to these questions is that the norms apply to all students, not just students who take MAP Growth K-2 or students who take MAP 2-5. The MAP Growth K-2 and 2-5 tests for a subject are on the same RIT scale, so you can compare RIT scores and use the status (percentiles) and growth norms on reports.
