Introduction
MAP Reading Fluency test term dates are fixed for the academic year and determine what content will be presented to students.

Information
MAP Reading Fluency differs from MAP Growth in the use of term dates for testing.

At the beginning of a new MAP Reading Fluency test term date, new content will be published and the performance expectations will rise. For example, a second grader has to read 72 words correct per minute in winter to meet grade-level expectations. By spring, that number rises to 89 words correct per minute. For the word count per minute (wcpm) for each test term, see How are oral reading fluency performance levels determined?.

MAP Reading Fluency has the following fixed test term dates:
  • Fall: 7/20 - 11/30
  • Winter: 12/1 - 2/28 (2/29 on leap years)
  • Spring: 3/1 - 6/30
  • Summer: Spring extends until Fall term

Note: The dates above do not apply to rostering. Rosters are still based on the MAP Growth terms.
