The better understanding and simplification of MAP Skills, a wonderful tool, is best because it is overwhelming to us that are new to it. The Fall of 2020 will be unprecedented across the world, our country, and in Texas. With no state wide STAAR results that many focus on, and while being new to MAP entirely with 21 of 34 campuses, making MAP Skills Locator as easy to understand and trustworthy as far as it getting the biggest bang for our buck and return on investment of time and money, will be the key to our students' and a teachers' success and being able to have immediate actionable data to support and grow our students.
The return on investment, right now is about 10X of what we as teachers, campus administrators, district administrators, and district support staff currently have with the potential MAP Growth, Fluency, and Skills usage if we can make it easy to navigate through and easy to understand the benefits of students using the suite of resources. The data that MAP reports provides helps in campus plans, teacher goals, student goals, prioritization of focal areas, and knowing where to focus funds for resources based on nationally-normed data is priceless.
On a personal notes,.....Knowing that we are bringing on 21 new campuses and asking our teams to take a leap of faith in learning Growth, Skills, and Fluency all in one year is definitely not recommended. It is beyond incredible to hear how our 13+ pilot campuses have absorbed information, explored possibilities, and personalized the usage of MAP Suite options based on each campus's needs and goals to accomplish what many consider impossible is a demonstration of how valuable MAP will be for planning instruction and intervention, both below and above grade level expectations, for all of our students in a time when 1 day or week changed the landscape of education forever. For many, it was putting one foot in front of the other, with 100% teacher and campus leadership and teacher expertise in the uses of MAP overall, to provide students with what is needed. We simply can't thank our teachers and campus leaders, no matter the title, enough for taking that leap of faith.
Documents and very brief guidance make it possible to digest MAP and see it's true potential. Beginning in August 2020, we will rely on MAP Growth and Skills more than ever to prioritize learning of our students, staff, and resources.
Thank you for continuing to provide resources so new users like us can see the whole picture, what students see, what teachers should expect, and easy links to access for more information that give us the sincere grace to explore, try, and reach out to others for support!
