Tip: Retesting students

Discussion created by Danielle Kerns on Feb 1, 2019

There may be a need for a student to be retested due to a poor testing experience, not having a needed accommodation assigned, or if the student was disengaged on their first try but do you know which test will report? It does not matter which test had a higher RIT score or when the tests were taken (assuming both are within the test window). The MAP system picks the test with the lowest Standard Error of Measure (SEM) to report. Read on for more info about this and how to change which test appears on MAP Growth reports with Can I retest students with MAP?

Keep in mind that some districts have testing frequency restrictions which will prevent retesting, and only MAP Data Administrators can override it. See Overriding a Test Restriction for help.
