Melissa Bain supports Illinois State and Government Partnerships for NWEA. She works directly with the Board of Education, Governor’s, and City of Chicago Mayor’s office, as well as key district and state legislators in advocating for a balanced state assessment solution. In her recent Teach. Learn. Grow blog she draws a great comparison between the celebrities who compete on the popular Dancing with the Stars TV show and students in our nation’s K-12 school system.  Melissa says, "stars are not unlike students in our nation’s K-12 school system – they enter with varying degrees of opportunity and diverse strengths, but all are seeking to master the content they are taught."
