Tip: Setting goals for spring

Discussion created by Danielle Kerns on Dec 13, 2019

This question seems to come up frequently during the winter testing season: Does a student's growth projection change based on their winter MAP Growth test?

As mentioned in the linked article, growth projections are based on the term pair that you choose when ordering a growth report. It will pick the student's RIT score from that starting term and then predict the growth to the ending term in the term comparison period you selected, and compare them to their peers in the same norming group. If you set growth goals in fall for the spring term and then test in winter, these projections are likely to change with a winter-spring comparison. It's a good way to track progress throughout the year and adjust instruction accordingly.
