Settings for Chromebooks are randomly changing during testing

During testing, accessibility settings appear to change randomly. For example, the display may change to high contrast mode, and later on during testing, change back. Screen Magnifier may also be turning off and on. If standard settings are not disabled in the Chrome Management Console, other settings may also be affected. This may affect some or all users.

This can occur when all students are using the same Google account to log into the Chromebook. If one student changes a setting, the change will propagate (sync) to the other students using the same account.

To avoid this, we recommend using different Google accounts, or configuring testing with the MAP Chromebook Testing App in kiosk mode, or public sessions instead. See MAP Testing Chromebook kiosk app set-up guide

Accessibility settings are not available in public sessions. However, unless restricted in the Chrome Management Console, the general settings are available.
