Question
How do the Term Rostered and Term Tested options work with Achievement Status and Growth reports? How do they affect the Growth Comparison Period options?

Answer
The Term Rostered and Term Tested menu options allow teachers to see test results for their assigned classes even if the students were not assigned to them in the term that they tested. When you adjust these options, this changes which Growth Comparison Periods are available.

Term selection options:

  • Term Rostered choices are limited to the current and previous academic years.
  • Term Tested choices are limited to terms that are either concurrent with or precede the Term Rostered.

Term Tested and Growth Comparison Period options:

The Term Tested selection directly affects which Growth Comparison Periods are available.
  • Projection reports:The term you select for Term Tested will be the starting point of the comparison period. For example, if you select Fall 2018-2019 as the Term Tested, you will get term comparison options such as "Fall 2018 - Spring 2019 Growth Projection Report".
  • Summary reports: The term you select for Term Tested will be the ending point of the comparison period. For example, if you select Fall 2018-2019 as the Term Tested, you will get term comparison options such as "Fall 2017 - Fall 2018 Growth Summary Report".

Example: Growth Comparison Period options with Term Tested set as Fall 2018-2019:

Depending on the selected Term Tested as described above, the possible term pairings in the Growth Comparison Period are:
  • Fall to Winter
  • Fall to Spring
  • Fall to Fall
  • Winter to Spring
  • Winter to Winter
  • Spring to Spring

Term Rostered and Growth Comparison Period options:

If you change the Term Rostered, the available Growth Comparison Period options may change based on the default or allowed options for Term Tested.

By default, when you change Term Rostered, the Term Tested menu automatically changes to the same term. (An exception is the Summer term; if you select this option, the default Term Tested is the Spring term of the previous year). The available Growth Comparison Period options are based on the Term Tested as outlined in the previous section.

Depending on which Term Rostered option you choose, you may be able to select a Term Tested other than the default. The available Growth Comparison Period options will then adjust automatically to correspond with the new Term Tested.

The following restrictions determine which Term Tested options are available for the selected Term Rostered:
  • Term Rostered choices are limited to the current and previous academic years.
  • For each Term Rostered option, the Term Tested choices are limited to either the same term as, or earlier terms than the Term Rostered.

For example, if you select Fall 2018-2019 as the Term Rostered, the default Term Tested will be Fall 2018-2019. The additional Term Tested options are the terms that precede the Term Rostered and are in the current or previous academic year: Spring 2017-2018, Winter 2017-2018, and Fall 2017-2018.

Example: Term Tested options with Term Rostered set as Fall 2018-2019
